Addendum 2-A: Notable Character Traits

Deliberate: Dr. Leighton is cautious to a fault, overthinking almost everything. This does have its benefits, as his tendency to think through a plan looking for possible contingencies can leave him uncommonly well-prepared. Unfortunately, it can also leave him indecisive on even minor points, as he constantly seeks an optimal solution.

Introspective: Years of conscious effort have left Dr. Leighton slightly more self-aware than many people. His cultivated self-awareness, self-control, and situational awareness are in some ways an overcompensation for his obliviousness early in life.

Analytical: Carefully cultivated self-control helps Dr. Leighton bury his emotions and keep a clear head when things get dicey. It helps, of course, that he gets most of his worrying done in advance.

Addendum 2-B: Notable Character Flaws

Anal-retentive: Bordering on obsessive at times, Dr. Leighton has a particular way he likes things done. His love of optimization causes him to seek optimal methods for even the most mundane of tasks, and is often annoyed by the fact that not everybody does things his way.

Judgemental: Dr. Leighton is highly critical of both himself and of others, and sometimes excoriates subordinates who fail in ways he considers predictable and avoidable. If he considers an error understandable, he's likely to be very forgiving. If not, he has little patience for those he considers fools.

Electrically inept: For some reason, Dr. Leighton has immense trouble understanding all but the simplest of electrical circuits. He has no trouble using electronics, but their innards might as well be SCPs for all he can understand them.

Addendum 3-A: Personnel History

Philip Leighton was born ██/██/████ to K████ and W█████ Leighton of █████████, MA. His early life was largely unremarkable. At school, he demonstrated a marked aptitude in scientific disciplines, eventually enrolling and obtaining his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from MIT. Outside of his academic pursuits, he often enjoyed hiking/camping, instrumental music (he's a very mediocre saxophonist), and dabbling in a variety of martial arts.

After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Leighton was recruited through one of the Foundation's front companies, and has spent the past ten years working a variety of projects for the Foundation, primarily in new artifact analysis. His transfer to Site 23 comes due to reduced staff allocation to the SCP-148 replication project.

Addendum 3-B: Miscellaneous

Physical description: Caucasian male, 37 years old; 180 cm tall, 75 kg; brown eyes; short light brown hair, minor hair loss (male pattern balding), goatee

A bit of a martial-arts dilettante - rarely spends long learning any given style, but constantly looks for practical and easily-learned new techniques, especially those not requiring significant physical strength (Dr. Leighton is surprisingly weak for his stature, which is part of what sparked his initial interest in martial arts).

Relatively timid in social situations, slow to make new friends. Has a small number of friends, but most of them are very close friendships. Never married, personnel file indicates no current romantic involvements.
